Announcing the new 'Virtual Tour' of ReachOut.com

09 Sep 2014
Launched at a special event in Sydney on Tuesday 9 September, the ReachOut.com Virtual Tour is a fantastic new way to explain how an online mental health service works for young people.

“ReachOut.com has helped millions of young people to improve their mental health. We want to reach millions more, so we’ve created the Virtual Tour to show Australia how ReachOut.com provides young people the help they need,” said Jono Nicholas, CEO of ReachOut.com by Inspire Foundation.

The Virtual Tour is a video simulation showing how four young people have used ReachOut.com. It shows how the service helps them deal with anxiety, a drinking problem, questions about sexuality and suicidal thoughts.

“ReachOut.com’s goal is to make getting help easy for young people going through tough times. The Virtual Tour shows the range of difficulties ReachOut.com helps with and the changes they went on to make in their lives,” said Nicholas.

ReachOut.com plays a crucial role for young people with a mental health difficulty who don’t seek help.

“Many young Australians still don’t feel comfortable fronting up to friends, family, or helplines for their mental health. ReachOut.com breaks down barriers to getting help and gives them practical tools for immediate care,” added Nicholas.

“Most importantly, ReachOut.com helps young people in acute mental distress to feel comfortable seeking further professional support.”

Directed by young film maker Brendan Cain and featuring leading Australian Actor/Director Brendan Cowell, the Virtual Tour was made possible with the support of ReachOut.com’s community of backers.

“We’re hugely grateful to our backers for their support. With them, we can provide mental health help to every young Australian, no matter where they are or what time it is,” added Nicholas.
