ReachOut's Signature Events

At ReachOut, we pride ourselves on developing mutually beneficial partnerships that support our work and provide opportunities to engage with the wider community around mental health and wellbeing.  The core of this approach is a commitment to building relationships that put authenticity and mutual accountability at their heart - partnering together to drive impact, innovation and change in the community.

Every year, we are so grateful for the opportunity to work with our generous partners on our national signature events, Laps for Life and Make a Move. Laps for Life and Make A Move are both month-long events that bring people together through physical and self-care activities that raise funds to allow ReachOut to continue supporting young people in need.

Our signature events empower participants to initiate conversations about mental health within their communities while meaningfully connecting around a shared cause. Laps for Life and Make a Move create connected communities of like-minded participants who improve their own wellbeing while supporting youth mental health.

Laps for Life

Laps for Life is an annual swimming event held in March. The event inspires Australians of all ages to swim to raise money to prevent youth sucide while improving their own wellbeing.

With the support of our partners, Laps for Life has grown year on year, allowing ReachOut to help more young people and families across Australia.

Partners Supporting Laps for Life

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the generous partners who supported Laps for Life, some of whom are highlighted below.

Zoggs Australia

Zoggs Australia has been the principal partner of Laps for Life since 2019. As a partner, Zoggs has shown an ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the mental health of young people in Australia and promoting an event that has positive health and wellbeing benefits for those who participate.

The success of Laps for Life is only possible due to the continuing support of Zoggs, who provide valuable incentives to all  our participants.

Swimming NSW

ReachOut is proud to have partnered with Swimming NSW for a second year of Laps for Life. We are incredibly appreciative of the strong partnership and their commitment to helping young people and their families across Australia.

Swimming NSW did a tremendous job at engaging their community in 2021, with 14 Swimming NSW registered clubs and one corporate team joining Laps for Life and raising nearly $50k. ReachOut loved having the opportunity to further engage with the community by attending the 2020 NSW Senior State Age Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

Testimonials

“I just wanted to take the time to thank you, and the Laps for Life team, for organising this fundraiser on such an important topic. You have all done an amazing job in bringing the subject of mental health to the surface of our society. This has already enabled more discussions within my family, my work and our swim club on this subject.”

“Importantly, our members and team who took part in Laps for Life were able to start conversations about the difficult topics of youth mental health and also suicide. For our team, it has been really important to share these stories and we hope that because of this our members will feel supported and able to seek help if they are going through a tough time.”

Partners Supporting Make a Move

Make a Move is made possible with the support of our generous partners, some of whom are highlighted below. ReachOut would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the partners and supporters who bring Make a Move to life.

The Audi Foundation

In 2021, Make a Move was supported by Audi and The Audi Foundation. This included dedicated support provided to Audi staff, as well as the greater Audi community, and an article in Audi Magazine which featured ReachOut CEO, Ashley de Silva, detailing mental health lessons from lockdown.

The GPT Foundation

Working with The GPT Foundation, Melbourne Central and ReachOut's own Youth Ambassadors, we co-created wellbeing content to encourage self-care and participation in Make a Move.

7-Eleven

7-Eleven is dedicated to fostering positive staff wellbeing and utilised Make a Move as a staff activation. Their involvement  saw 18 corporate teams with 268 participating staff from across Australia move more than 1700 hours and raise over $30,000 all for youth mental health.

7-Eleven ran a number of internal challenges throughout Make a Move and the event empowered staff to more openly discuss mental health.

Boost Juice

Boost Juice activated both their staff and their communities to particpate in Make a Move. Boost provided information and support through their EDM database, designed dedicated assets and activated instore with QR codes to encourage donations.

Boost played a significant role in increasing registrations and saw 17 corporate teams with 88 staff particpate, rasiing over $18,000 for youth mental health.
