Movember: Bringing focus to young men’s mental health

06 Nov 2015
Countless young men around Australia are going through incredibly difficult times. At ReachOut we’re doing as much as we can to help every day, and we love Movember because it’s a great reminder for us to all focus on the mental health of young men in our lives.

Nearly three times as many young men die by suicide than young women, yet around 80% of young men experiencing a mental health difficulty aren’t getting professional help.

Although thousands of young men access ReachOut each month, there continues to be a staggering number of young men around the country who are struggling alone.

The guys going through a tough time say it’s easiest to turn to friends, a relative/family friend, parents, or the internet for help.

This Movember, it’s up to everyone to reach out to young men who might be going through a tough time. All month, we’ll chat about guys’ issues on the ReachOut.com Peer Support Forums and feature content targeted to young men across our channels. We’re even growing a mo’ (keep an eye on the ReachOut.com logo).

To all those growing a mo’ and supporting their mates this Movember: good on you.
