This support will include additional funding for ReachOut and provide important information, tools and personalised help for young Australians who might be struggling with the emotional toll of the drought.
ReachOut CEO Jono Nicholas thanked the government for the additional funding. This support for ReachOut recognises the important role of online support that is available to young Australians 24/7 no matter where they live.
“We know that the current drought is having far reaching effects on farming families and communities. Countless young people are doing it tough at the moment with ‘all hands on deck’ on many properties and competing priorities between home and school,” Mr Nicolas said.
“ReachOut helps over 1.5 million young Australians and their families each year. This additional funding will help both young people and the people they turn to, their parents, targeted to drought affected communities.”
ReachOut’s services are the first stop on the frontline for young people, particularly where there are barriers to help seeking like a lack of local services, transport, cost, fear or a preference for self-reliance.
ReachOut's support is available anywhere, anytime and anonymously. ReachOut’s services for parents  to help them to support their child,  includes one on one coaching delivered online and via the telephone.
