ReachOut and EY show support for LGBTQI young people at Fair Day 2018

21 Feb 2018
ReachOut was joined by EY to create an epic impression at Sydney’s Fair Day last Sunday, 18 February 2018 – as part of the Sydney Mardi Gras Festival – in a bright-blue show of support for LGBTQI young people and their families.

The stall asked the question, ‘What would you tell your younger self?’ with more than 500 fair-goers sharing their thoughts. Check out some of the excellent contributions below or view the full album on Facebook.

At ReachOut, we’re so grateful to EY for making this year’s stall possible. Our prominent spot on a main Fair Day thoroughfare meant that thousands of the 70,000 attendees walked past our stall, and together with EY’s 30+ volunteers we were able to talk with them about how ReachOut helps young people and families dealing with tough times.

ReachOut CEO Jono Nicholas said, ‘EY has given an incredible amount of support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing through ReachOut.com over the last five years. With EY, we've shed a new light on the power of digital services through research and advocacy that’s transforming our mental health system.

‘We were delighted to have EY’s support for Sydney’s Mardi Gras Fair Day, which marked the third year that ReachOut has joined with their UNITY staff group to show support for LGBTQI young people.

‘Young people with diverse sexualities and genders, and their families, are incredibly important to our work as mental health difficulties and suicide are even more common for them than their heterosexual and cis-gender counterparts.

‘Growing up – and parenting – can be tough, but we’re here to help. We hope that, through Fair Day, we’ve showed rainbow families, parents, carers and young people that we're there for them. We’re so grateful to EY for joining us there, and for their ongoing support as we aim to reach another million people by 2020.’
