Raise Dough for ReachOut in May 2018

11 Apr 2018

Raise Dough is happening again in May and June 2019!

Join us this May for our tastiest fundraiser of the year – Raise Dough – as we dust off the apron, feed our minds and raise some dough for youth mental health. Simply sign up, bake your favourite foods and sell them to raise funds and awareness for ReachOut.com.

We’re rapt to have the support of legends like Ivy + Stone, Lee Holmes, Katherine Sabbath, Chef Works, Country Women’s Association Sydney, Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel, Maxwell & Williams, and Peter’s of Kensington on board to make this campaign huge, and we’d really appreciate your support too.

Home baker and Instagram influencer Katherine Sabbath has joined us as an ambassador to bring attention to Raise Dough. ‘I find baking for myself and others extremely relaxing and satisfying!’ she says. ‘I encourage everyone to give baking a go and allow it to enrich your creativity, feed your mind and your soul!’

‘I'm proud to be an Ambassador for ReachOut and Raise Dough campaign because I'm passionate about creating awareness around mental health issues and I value the connection between baking and wellbeing,’ adds Katherine.

‘The process of baking, by methodically going through the motions of measuring, mixing, and sharing, allows me to focus on what's going on right in front of me.

Erin, a ReachOut Youth Ambassador from Western Australia, raised $380 for Raise Dough in 2017, and is pretty passionate about the benefits of baking for mental health. ‘I love to get lost in the kitchen and just spend a morning baking up a storm. It’s really therapeutic. There have been days when my anxiety has been running riot and I can’t sit still, but when I bake it calms me down and gives me something to focus on other than the anxiety.’

Our CEO, Jono Nicholas, says we may not be experts in the kitchen, but we are experts when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. ‘Baking is a great way to start a conversation about ReachOut, help with self-care, improve connectedness and even encourage mindfulness.

‘So please, hop online to register for Raise Dough. You’ll also find tips, recipes, and inspiration,’ he said.
