With Valentine’s Day approaching, ReachOut Australia has launched a social media campaign that puts the spotlight on sex, relationships, self-worth and body image.
‘Navigating sex and relationships can be hard for young people as they encounter them for the first time. Often these experiences can be wrapped up in concerns about self-worth, body image and loneliness, which can be very stressful,’ said ReachOut Australia CEO Jono Nicholas.
‘With this campaign, we want to connect young Australians with strategies and support that equips them to deal with sex and relationships for the first time.’
The new campaign is one example of ReachOut’s approach to connecting with young people on social media through issues that matter to them.
‘Sex and relationships can be tough to talk about in person, but by taking to social media we can make a huge difference to young people’s knowledge and ability to manage them positively and safely.’
‘This campaign is intended to improve a range of wellbeing areas related to sex and relationships, including self-esteem, confidence, body image and positive relationships.’
Information about sex and relationships is one of the most-accessed areas of ReachOut.com, with more than 400,000 views in 2015. Topics featured during the campaign will include:
The campaign will also feature a new illustrated content series designed for sharing on social media, as well as forum discussions and an insightful audio story that explores young men’s feelings about dealing with loneliness.
The campaign will run from 11 February until 4 March 2016. Follow the campaign via ReachOut’s social channels:
