Yesterday, Mental Health Australia sent a letter to the Prime Minister and the Health Minister regarding uncertainty of funding contracts that expire on 30 June 2015. More than 70 organisations signed the letter, including ReachOut Australia.
Earlier today, Minister Ley confirmed the government is conscious of the need to bring certainty and that the review of mental health programs will be released soon.
ReachOut Australia’s CEO Jono Nicholas welcomed the news. “We look forward to the release of the Review and to contributing to discussions during the consultation period that will follow,” said Nicholas.
“The Review is an important opportunity to build a sustainable and robust mental health system. Clarifying funding arrangements will allow the sector to return its focus to working with government to deliver better help to more people.”
