Let 220,000 Young Australians know There’s Life After Year 12 Exams

07 Oct 2014
Australia’s leading online youth mental health service ReachOut.com today launches ‘There’s Life After Year 12 Exams’ a national campaign to help students manage the stress and anxiety of their year 12 exams.

In launching the campaign, ReachOut.com CEO Jonathan Nicholas called on all Australians to share their own Year 12 stories via social media as a show of support for this year’s graduating class.

“With school stress and final exams listed as one of the key concerns for young Australians, we’re reaching out to 220,000 young Australians about to do their final Year 12 exams to let them know there’s life after,” said Nicholas.

ReachOut.com has helped millions of young people over the last 16 years going through tough times, with a significant peak in requests for support and information around exam times.

“For some who did well in their Year 12 exams, things often turn out very differently than they planned. For those who didn’t get the results they wanted, life has also taken them in different and interesting directions. Either way, they all agree that there’s plenty of life after the exams” said Nicholas.

More than 50 high profile Australians have already pledged their support for the ReachOut.com campaign by recording a video at thereslifeafter.org. Renowned Australians such as Ita Buttrose, Adam Spencer, Rove McManus, Malcolm Turnbull, Bill Shorten and many more have told their unique Year 12 exam stories.

Australian businessman and education reformist David Gonski had some challenges with his own Year 12 exams; “I should not have got as upset and worried as I did and as I look back now, it was a beginning not an end” Mr Gonski explains in his video message to young people.

ReachOut.com invites all Australians to share their message of support for young people this October. Reach out to a student this month to let them know there’s life after Year 12 exams by sharing a video from thereslifeafter.org, or create your own video using the hashtag #thereslifeafter
