Eliza and her mum, Miriam, have run with ReachOut for four years straight – with Eliza’s dad joining them this year, too. Eliza says, ‘A lot of people are inspired by this kind of thing. Not only to talk about mental health, but also to get up and be a bit more active.

Miriam knows how important ReachOut can be to the students she works with – and the people close to her supported her run, too. ‘I work in a school and I know how important it is for our students and all young people to have really strong mental health.

‘I'm really lucky that I have a lot of friends and family who also appreciate the importance of mental health.’

We want to send a special shout-out and thank you to the excellent companies that joined Team ReachOut this year. Together, they boosted our team by around 200 people, giving ReachOut an incredible awareness boost on the route and helping to raise a massive amount of funds.

Dan, from Getty Images, says the City2Surf is a great thing for companies to do as a team. So much so, Getty Images had a team of 13 sign up. ‘I got a dozen or so people from work to support ReachOut. The best thing about raising money was doing it all together.’

If you’re thinking of running for ReachOut, Matt reckons it’s a great way to get motivated to train. ‘Doing it for charity makes you get up in the morning and do that run that you might not otherwise have done.’

Never raised money before and feel uncomfortable asking for support? Long-time ReachOut runner Annie says it straight: ‘Just keep asking! And don't be embarrassed to ask, because you're not asking for yourself.’
