We welcome this afternoon's news that the Government has confirmed $300 million towards the extension of mental health funding contracts. The extension of contracts provides some much-needed certainty to the many organisations working to provide mental health support to millions of Australians.
This timely confirmation of funding will provide the certainty needed for the sector to actively engage in consultations around the National Mental Health Commission Report, which Minister Ley confirmed last week will be released soon.
"The Mental Health Review is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring about significant reform to the sector," said ReachOut Australia CEO Jono Nicholas. "We congratulate the Government on its commitment to undertaking the Review and to engaging the sector in such necessary reform discussions."
"E-mental health programs have a proven track record of delivering support to young Australians that is both efficient and cost-effective. Investing in scalable e-mental health services allows any young person with internet access to find the help they need."
