About me
I'm Chad Kirby, an everyday Queenslander undertaking a series of assisted solo open water swims across Moreton Bay to promote adventure, resilience and wellbeing. Through these challenges, I'm proud to be raising funds for ReachOut Australia to help young people access free mental health information, support and services.

My story
My name is Chad Kirby, and I'm an ordinary Queenslander, husband, father and recreational endurance athlete who believes adventure is closer than many people realise.
Over the coming years, I will undertake a series of assisted solo open water swims across Moreton Bay. The journey begins with a 14km crossing from Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island to Raby Bay, Cleveland, followed by a 24km swim from Tangalooma to Redcliffe and, ultimately, a 36km crossing from Tangalooma to Raby Bay.
These are not races or organised events. They are personal challenges that I am pursuing alongside work, family life and everyday commitments. Each swim will be completed with a support vessel and crew, allowing me to safely navigate some of the most iconic waterways in South East Queensland.
Like many people, I have experienced firsthand the positive impact that exercise, spending time outdoors and setting meaningful goals can have on physical and mental wellbeing. Through this project, I hope to encourage others to step outside their comfort zones, embrace adventure, and discover that incredible experiences do not always require exotic destinations or elite athletic ability. Sometimes they exist right on our doorstep.
That is why I am proud to be partnering with ReachOut Australia.
